FXDD Loses EU Authorization as MFSA Accepts License Surrender

19 hours ago WikiForex

License Surrender Ends EU Passporting

The MFSA accepted Triton Capital Markets Ltd.'s voluntary surrender of its Malta Class 2 Investment Services License, effective August 25, 2026. The regulator confirmed no enforcement action triggered the move.

Consequently, FXDD—the retail broker operating through Triton—no longer holds any valid regulatory authorisation, stripping its clients of EU investor compensation and dispute resolution mechanisms.

The surrender also closes Triton's MiFID passporting rights across the European Economic Area. Belgium had already terminated the firm's cross‑border permissions on March 24, 2026, five months earlier, without disclosing the reason. While older FXDD web pages still referenced a Category 3 license (an outdated classification), the current site no longer repeats that claim; its footer now identifies FXDD Trading SAC, registered in Peru. Public materials have not clarified the fate of existing clients or whether accounts were transferred.

Historical Corporate Ties

Triton had a long‑standing connection to the Nasdaq‑listed company formerly named Nukkleus (now T3 Defense), involving common ownership and service agreements. Former Nukkleus CEO Emil Assentato controlled Max Q Investments, which held 79% of Currency Mountain Malta LLC, Triton's sole shareholder. Their general services agreement terminated on January 1, 2024, with no further obligations. Nukkleus recorded $19.2 million in service revenue from Triton in 2023 and $4.8 million in 2024, with no revenue afterward.

Investor Warning: FXDD Is Now Unregulated

With its Malta license gone, FXDD currently holds no oversight from any recognised authority. Investors are strongly urged to verify regulatory status via official registers before depositing funds, and to prioritise firms with tier‑1 regulation. The surrender does not affect other FXDD‑branded entities outside Malta, but the primary EU‑regulated entity is no longer authorised to operate.
